Supported Platforms

1. SGI

Chime is a molecular graphics program in the form of a browser plug-in. It is available to download for free from MDL. Important: Currently, only the 8 bit graphics version of Chime is available for the SGI platform. If you are using a Silicon Graphics workstation you will need to start your browser in 8 bit graphics mode to be able to use Chime. This is accomplished when using the netscape browser by starting netscape using the command:

netscape -visual pseudocolor


  • STING and STINGpaint are running under Netscape 4.03 and higher!

    PC version will operate correctly with:

    Netscape 4.03 and higher

    and

    Chemscape Chime Version 2.0beta2 32bit



  • Note: Sting and STINGpaint are reportedly running on PowerMac stations too. However, the user needs to configure the memory requirenments for Netscape to higher values (about 30 Mb).
